Qualifying degree
You need a five-year upper secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification earned abroad. You must also hold at least one of the following: [1]
- a degree that qualifies you to practise one of the health professions in class LM/SNT2 (rehabilitation sciences of the health professions)
- a university diploma that qualifies you to practise one of those professions
- a qualification for one of those professions under Italian Law 42 of 26 February 1999
- a qualification earned abroad and recognised as suitable under current rules
A foreign title needs a positive eligibility assessment from the course president, based on your degree certificate, transcript of records and a copy of your passport. For eligible students, we prepare and send these documents. [1]
What this means for your transcript
The rule is about your professional title, not a count of credits. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a bachelor's that qualifies you to practise physiotherapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy, such as a BPT, BOT or BASLP, subject to the eligibility assessment of your foreign title.
- Check carefully: optometry, audiology-only, psychology or special education degrees, or a rehabilitation diploma that is not a university qualification, since the title must qualify you for one of the class's rehabilitation professions.
- Often short: nursing, pharmacy, biomedical science, sports science or general science degrees, which do not qualify you to practise a rehabilitation profession.
English
English at CEFR level B2. Because the master's is taught in English, this level is assessed through the entrance test, which is written in English. The call does not ask for a separate certificate or test score. [1]
Admission test and ranking
The test has 80 questions in English, each with five options, and you have 120 minutes. [1]
- 32 questions on theory and practice of the LM/SNT2 health professions
- 18 questions on general culture and logical reasoning
- 10 questions on the regulation of these professions and healthcare law
- 10 questions on science and maths, statistics, IT and English
- 10 questions on human and social sciences
The ranking is out of 100 points: up to 80 for the test and up to 20 for qualifications. Each correct answer earns 1 point, each wrong answer costs 0.25 points and a blank scores zero. The call does not set a minimum score. [1]
Qualifications are scored as follows: [1]
- Academic or training qualifications of at least six months: up to 1 point each, maximum 3.
- Professional practice in an LM/SNT2 profession, public or private: 0.5 points per year or period over six months, maximum 4.
- Coordination or formal specialist roles: 1 point per year or period over six months, maximum 5.
- Appointed lecturer or tutor in professional subjects of health profession degrees: 0.5 points per assignment or year, maximum 5.
- Research documented in scientific publications: maximum 3.
Ties are decided by the score on professional theory and practice plus general culture and logic, then on regulation and healthcare law, then on science, statistics, IT, English and human sciences. [1]
Places
For 2026/27 the call set provisional numbers of 20 places for EU and equivalent candidates and 6 places for non-EU citizens living abroad, with the final numbers due in a later decree. [1]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, online registration on UdAOnline ran from noon on 18 August to 3pm on 28 September 2026, and the competition fee had to be paid by the same date. The test took place on 7 October 2026 at 11am at the Madonna delle Piane campus in Chieti Scalo. [1]
The merit ranking was due by 21 October 2026, with updates every three working days, and admitted candidates had until 1pm on 30 October 2026 to enrol. Candidates still completing their qualifying degree could sit the test and enrol with reservation if they obtained it by enrolment and no later than 30 November 2026. The next call sets the 2027/28 dates. [1]
Documents and non-EU steps
- Online registration with Attachment A, a self-certification of your academic qualifications and professional experience. A CV cannot replace it.
- Payment of the competition fee through PagoPA.
- The eligibility assessment of your foreign title, based on your degree certificate, transcript of records and passport.
- Universitaly pre-enrolment. The university checks your details and qualifications and tells the Italian mission whether the pre-enrolment is validated and whether a declaration of value is needed.
- On the test day, non-EU candidates living abroad show a passport with a type D study visa, or a residence permit or the post office receipt for a permit application.
- At enrolment, a foreign degree must be presented in the original with an official Italian translation, legalisation and a declaration of value from the Italian mission.

About the programme
Health Professions of Rehabilitation Sciences is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM/SNT2) worth 120 ECTS, run by the Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences at d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. It is taught entirely in English on the Chieti campus, and the thesis is written and defended in English. Access is limited by a national quota of places.
The degree is not a first qualification: it is built for people who already practise one of the rehabilitation professions, such as physiotherapists, speech therapists, orthoptists, podiatrists and occupational therapists, and want to move into advanced clinical work, management, research or teaching.
What you will study
The first year covers management and professional practice, with a focus on congenital disabilities. The second year moves to research methods, advanced clinical pathways, healthcare management and teaching. Units in the current plan (Italian titles translated) include:

- Prevention and Diagnosis of Congenital Disabilities I and II (15 ECTS in total)
- Therapy of Congenital and Acquired Disabilities I and II (15 ECTS in total)
- Methodology of Teaching and Research in Rehabilitation (8 ECTS)
- Planning, Organisation and Control of Healthcare Organisations (8 ECTS)
- Diagnostic and therapeutic pathways for sensory disabilities, and for psycho-neuromotor disorders, including virtual medicine, robotics and telerehabilitation
- Supervised internships (30 ECTS over two years), laboratories and a final thesis
How the programme is taught
Most lessons are lectures built around practical case studies, while laboratories and electives use small-group methods such as role-play and problem-based learning. Attendance is compulsory: at least 70% for course units and full attendance for internships and laboratories. Internships take place in public health services in Italy or abroad under agreements with the university, and each student is followed by a clinical tutor, with one tutor for every three students. Erasmus mobility is available through the department's partner universities and the INGENIUM European university alliance.
Career paths
The university describes graduates as senior rehabilitation professionals able to plan primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, design neuro-psychomotor rehabilitation with advanced technologies, coordinate services and lead training and research. Settings named on the course page include:

- Public hygiene services, mental health centres, maternal and child health departments and occupational medicine

Fees and scholarships
Fees follow family income (ISEE), so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. Under the 2026/27 fee regulation every student pays a first instalment covering the regional tax and stamp duty. Families with income only abroad can present an ISEE-U parificato, and an ISEE-U of €24,000 or less means paying only that instalment. Without it, the yearly fee follows your country group, and some groups are exempt. Winners of the ADSU Chieti-Pescara scholarship are exempt from further fees.
