Health Professions of Rehabilitation Sciences is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree (class LM/SNT2) taught in English at d'Annunzio University in Chieti. It is open only to qualified rehabilitation professionals and has a national entrance test. Fees depend on family income or country group, so it can be tuition-free for eligible students.
Entry requirements
- A qualifying degree or diploma in one of the rehabilitation professions of class SNT2: physiotherapist, speech therapist, podiatrist, orthoptist, developmental neuro and psychomotor therapist, psychiatric rehabilitation technician, occupational therapist or professional educator, or a foreign qualification recognised as equivalent.
- Holders of foreign titles email their diploma, transcript and passport to the course president for an eligibility check before the test.
- English at CEFR B2 level, assessed through the entrance test.
- A written admission test in English: 80 multiple-choice questions in 120 minutes, scored out of 80, plus up to 20 points for qualifications and professional experience.
- For non-EU applicants living abroad: Universitaly pre-enrolment and a type D study visa, which must be shown on the day of the test.
About the programme
Health Professions of Rehabilitation Sciences is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM/SNT2) worth 120 ECTS, run by the Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences at d'Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara. It is taught entirely in English on the Chieti campus, and the thesis is written and defended in English. Access is limited by a national quota of places.
The degree is not a first qualification: it is built for people who already practise one of the rehabilitation professions, such as physiotherapists, speech therapists, orthoptists, podiatrists and occupational therapists, and want to move into advanced clinical work, management, research or teaching.
What you will study
The first year covers management and professional practice, with a focus on congenital disabilities. The second year moves to research methods, advanced clinical pathways, healthcare management and teaching. Units in the current plan (Italian titles translated) include:
- Community Medicine (9 ECTS)
- Prevention and Diagnosis of Congenital Disabilities I and II (15 ECTS in total)
- Therapy of Congenital and Acquired Disabilities I and II (15 ECTS in total)
- Methodology of Teaching and Research in Rehabilitation (8 ECTS)
- Planning, Organisation and Control of Healthcare Organisations (8 ECTS)
- Diagnostic and therapeutic pathways for sensory disabilities, and for psycho-neuromotor disorders, including virtual medicine, robotics and telerehabilitation
- Supervised internships (30 ECTS over two years), laboratories and a final thesis
How the programme is taught
Most lessons are lectures built around practical case studies, while laboratories and electives use small-group methods such as role-play and problem-based learning. Attendance is compulsory: at least 70% for course units and full attendance for internships and laboratories. Internships take place in public health services in Italy or abroad under agreements with the university, and each student is followed by a clinical tutor, with one tutor for every three students. Erasmus mobility is available through the department's partner universities and the INGENIUM European university alliance.
Career paths
The university describes graduates as senior rehabilitation professionals able to plan primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, design neuro-psychomotor rehabilitation with advanced technologies, coordinate services and lead training and research. Settings named on the course page include:

- Specialist outpatient clinics, care homes and residences for older people
- Public hygiene services, mental health centres, maternal and child health departments and occupational medicine

Fees and scholarships
Under the 2026/27 fee regulation every student pays a first instalment of €156 (regional tax and stamp duty). Families with income only abroad can present an ISEE-U parificato, and an ISEE-U of €24,000 or less means paying only that instalment. Without it, the yearly fee follows your country group: €0, €600 or €1,300. Winners of the ADSU Chieti-Pescara scholarship are exempt from further fees, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students.

For 2026/27 the university offers 6 places to non-EU citizens living abroad and 15 to EU and resident candidates. Registration runs on UdAOnline from 18 August to 28 September 2026 (15:00) with a €50 fee, the test is in Chieti on 7 October 2026 and admitted candidates enrol by 30 October.
You also complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D study visa, which you must show on the day of the test, so plan early. Expect legalised documents with a declaration of value or a CIMEA statement. The 2027/28 call is still to come.
