Secondary-school qualification and 12 years of education
Applicants need a secondary-school leaving qualification following at least 12 years of schooling. The award must generally give access to further academic study in the country where it was obtained, and the university evaluates its suitability for the Italian bachelor’s level. A bachelor’s degree is not an entry requirement for this first-cycle programme. [2]
For qualifications obtained after only 10 or 11 years of schooling, the university requires evidence covering the missing one or two years. The listed routes include an official university transcript showing all examinations for the relevant first/second university year were passed, a qualifying foundation-course completion from an Italian university, or an official one/two-year post-secondary qualification in a related subject from a non-university higher-education institution. We supply the appropriate complete record; attendance alone is not proof that all required examinations were passed. [2]
Open access, academic readiness and test information
The current 2026/27 manifesto identifies the programme as open access and entirely English-taught. Its academic foundation includes mathematics, physics, chemistry, geometry and computing. The coordinator assesses the application’s academic suitability. The reviewed current programme records do not identify a programme-specific competitive-test score, SAT threshold, CEnT-S requirement or numerical school-grade cutoff. We obtain the coordinator’s current assessment/OFA instructions for your file rather than import a test rule from a different Palermo engineering degree. [1, 2]
Open access does not waive qualification recognition, English evidence or any academic assessment/remedial obligations communicated by the programme. The central bachelor’s procedure says entry tests must be taken and passed where required by the chosen programme; that conditional statement does not establish a named test for this newly activated degree. English B2 and supporting evidence
The English-taught international application requires an official language certificate at CEFR B2 or above or an official Medium of Instruction certificate from the institution. The central accepted-score list includes IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72 and PTE General/Academic 46 or above, alongside the named Cambridge, British Institutes and Trinity ISE II-IV certificates. The central policy also recognises its documented entirely-English qualification/IB and approved English-admission-test exemption routes. [2, 3]
The English-taught bachelor’s section ends with a line requesting an Italian B2 certificate/test, despite earlier requiring English B2 and despite this programme’s entirely English teaching. The central language policy associates Italian B2 with Italian-taught courses. We obtain written clarification of this inconsistency from the International Students Office for each file. It is not treated here as a confirmed universal Italian B2 requirement for this English degree. [1-3]
Application file and coordinator admission letter
For non-EU applicants abroad requiring a visa, we register you on the Student Portal and create the enrolment application. We upload the valid passport, passport photograph, secondary-school diploma translated into Italian or English, transcript of records, official English B2/MOI evidence and CV. We include any required compensatory education records for fewer than 12 years of schooling. The administrative office first checks the documents, then the coordinator performs the academic evaluation and may issue an admission letter. [2]
The admission letter is required before the International Office forwards the Universitaly file to the embassy. The letter, pre-enrolment validation, visa and final registration are separate stages. A preliminary letter is not a visa or a final enrolment. EU and other eligible applicants who do not require this visa route follow the separately published intra-EU free-access procedure. [2, 4]
Separate 2026/27 bachelor’s deadlines
The English-taught free-access section sets 20 July 2026 for creation of the Student Portal application and 30 August 2026 for creation of the Universitaly application. Both have passed at this review. The visa procedure must be completed by 30 November 2026; the published final-enrolment deadline is 22 December 2026. The master’s Universitaly date of 4 August and the Italian-taught bachelor’s dates concern different routes and do not apply here. No confirmed 2027/28 dates are supplied. [2]
Final original records and payment
After the required academic, pre-enrolment and visa stages, pay the enrolment fees and complete International Students Office finalisation. The English-taught section requests the original secondary diploma with Italian or English translation and legalisation, together with either the appropriate Declaration of Value or CIMEA Comparability and Verification. We prepare the original compensatory-education evidence and any other records the office requests for the qualification. [2]

About the programme
Industrial and Information Engineering is a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor's degree run by the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo and, according to its 2026/27 study plan, delivered entirely in English.
It started in 2026/27, so only the first year is active so far. Access is open, and teaching takes place in Palermo.
The degree is registered in two classes, L-8 R (information engineering) and L-9 R (industrial engineering), under course codes 2492 and 2493, which share one study plan and one coordinator, Professor Valentina Cosentino.
It trains young professionals with basic and multidisciplinary skills across industrial and information engineering, with reference to safety, security, automation and the management of processes that produce, distribute and deliver goods and services.

How the programme is taught
From the second year you shape your own profile through three groups of optional courses worth 30 credits in total, plus 12 credits of free-choice subjects.
The options cover electrical, electronic and automation engineering; mechanical, aerospace and management engineering; energy and nuclear engineering; and chemical, biochemical and biomedical engineering.
Examples include Internet Networks, Principles of Aerodynamics, Project Management, Fundamentals of Renewable Energies, Embedded Systems, Electrical Power Systems, Lightweight Structures, Transport Phenomena, Robotics Fundamentals and Nuclear Reactors.
The plan also includes 3 credits of language skills and 3 credits of other training activities. The degree ends with a 3-credit final examination, an oral test of your maturity and critical ability.

The university presents the degree as training for young professionals who can work across industrial and information engineering, especially on safety, security, automation and the management of production, distribution and delivery of goods and services.
