Entry requirements

Detailed entry requirements

Business Administration, Economics and Finance admission depends on the prior qualification, the subject preparation specified below and the applicable language/enrolment route. The programme rules are verified against the official 2026/27 regulation. Eligibility assessment and final enrolment are separate stages.

Degree and 90-CFU alternative-background guideline

  • The 2026/27 LM-77 regulation requires a university degree, or a suitable recognised foreign qualification, in L-18 Business Administration or another class with adequate credits in the listed L-18 subject sectors.
  • For a degree outside L-18, the regulation gives an indicative criterion of at least 90 CFU in the prescribed subject table, with at least 18 CFU in at least three of its four areas. The business-area 18 CFU are explicitly compulsory.
  • The four areas are business, economics, law and statistics/mathematics. Business subjects include the specified accounting, management, corporate finance, organisation, financial-intermediary economics, commodity studies and agricultural economics fields. Economics includes the listed political/public/applied economics, econometrics and economic-history sectors.
  • Law includes the specified private, commercial, economic, maritime, labour, public, administrative, tax, international and EU-law sectors. The quantitative area includes the listed operations-research, statistics, economic-statistics, demographic and mathematical-methods fields. Exact disciplinary mapping is assessed by the university rather than inferred from a broad degree title.

Administrative check and preparation interview

  • The student registry checks full compliance and can proceed directly with enrolment when the listed requirements are fully met. Where the curriculum does not fully correspond, it forwards the dossier to the CAD.
  • The CAD may decide adequacy itself or appoint a commission, which can interview the applicant. The 90-CFU criterion is described as indicative in the regulation: it is neither an unconditional offer nor an automatic rejection rule, and the council’s assessment decides each file.

Teaching language and separate Twente double-degree route

  • The current official course listing identifies Italian and English. The main degree is therefore not an entirely English programme for every student. The department separately describes an English double-degree route with the University of Twente.
  • The double-degree webpage limits participation to qualifying first-year students in the Management curriculum and uses a separate annual selection. Before definitive access to the partner route, selected students must have at least 30 CFU at L’Aquila, including B2 English eligibility.
  • The page describes 15 annual double-degree places, but its attached call is labelled 2024/25 and parts of the page remain historical. We follow the new annual call for current places, ranking and mobility dates. Admission to the main LM-77 degree does not automatically admit the student to Twente.

Foreign qualifications and final enrolment documents

  • A foreign qualification must be recognised as suitable for second-cycle study. The file needs the final bachelor’s certificate, an official transcript in English or Italian, and the qualification-recognition evidence applicable to your case: CIMEA comparability/verification statements, a Declaration of Value, or an accepted English Diploma Supplement.
  • The university permits its documented direct-verification procedure in qualifying cases. This needs confirmation in the acceptance letter and communication to the student registry; otherwise the recognition evidence above is required.
  • Applicants who require an Italian study visa also complete Universitaly pre-enrolment. The university’s checklist includes passport photograph, passport, motivation letter, CV, transcript, degree or permitted temporary certificate, and B2 evidence in the teaching language. The academic offer and visa decision are separate steps.
  • We match your language evidence to the selected curriculum. The international enrolment webpage contains some older dates alongside its 2026 application information, so those older deadlines are not confirmed 2026/27 dates. We follow the current annual notice and registry instructions.

About the programme

Business Administration, Economics and Finance (Amministrazione, economia e finanza) is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM-77) at the University of L'Aquila, a public university. The official 2026/27 course listing identifies both Italian and English teaching, so it is not an entirely English programme for every student. [1][3]

The degree develops advanced preparation in business and economics. It suits graduates in business administration (Italian class L-18), and graduates from other fields whose first degree gives them solid business credits together with economics, law or statistics and mathematics. [1]

What you will study

The degree builds advanced business and economics preparation on a first-cycle base that spans four areas, the same areas the admission rules use to assess your background:

  • Business: accounting, management, corporate finance, organisation, economics of financial intermediaries, commodity studies and agricultural economics
  • Economics: political, public and applied economics, econometrics and economic history
  • Law: private, commercial, economic, maritime, labour, public, administrative, tax, international and EU law
  • Statistics and mathematics: operations research, statistics, economic statistics, demography and mathematical methods

The programme has more than one curriculum, including Management. The curriculum you choose determines your teaching language, so your language evidence must match it. [1][2][3]

How the programme is taught

Teaching runs over two years in L'Aquila, in Italian and English according to the curriculum. [3]

Students in the Management curriculum can also compete for an English-taught double degree with the University of Twente. The route has its own annual selection, open to qualifying first-year Management students. Before definitive access to the partner route, selected students need at least 30 CFU at L'Aquila, including B2 English eligibility. The most recent call attached to the department's page is labelled 2024/25 and described 15 places; the next annual call sets current places, ranking and mobility dates. Admission to the main LM-77 degree does not automatically admit you to the Twente route. [4]

Fees and scholarships

The University of L'Aquila sets tuition by family income, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. ADSU L'Aquila runs the regional scholarship call, and the region decides scholarship awards.

How to apply from outside the EU

You need a university degree, or a suitable recognised foreign qualification, in class L-18 Business Administration or another class with adequate credits in the listed L-18 subject sectors. For a degree outside L-18, the regulation gives an indicative guide of at least 90 CFU in the subject table, with at least 18 CFU in at least three of the four areas; the 18 business credits are compulsory. [1]

The student registry checks your record first and can move straight to enrolment when every requirement is met. Where your curriculum does not fully correspond, it forwards the file to the teaching council (CAD), which decides adequacy itself or appoints a commission that can interview you. The 90-CFU guide is indicative, so it is neither an unconditional offer nor an automatic rejection rule. [1]

International applicants go through the university's academic pre-selection. The checklist includes a passport photograph, passport, motivation letter, CV, transcript, degree or permitted temporary certificate, and B2 evidence in the teaching language of your curriculum. Applicants who need a study visa also complete Universitaly pre-enrolment; the academic offer and the visa decision are separate steps. [2]

Final enrolment needs the bachelor's certificate, an official transcript in English or Italian and qualification-recognition evidence: CIMEA comparability or verification statements, a Declaration of Value or an accepted English Diploma Supplement. In qualifying cases the university's direct-verification procedure can apply instead, when the acceptance letter confirms it and the student registry is informed. [2]

The international enrolment information mixes older dates with its 2026 entries, so the reviewed sources do not confirm a 2026/27 deadline. We follow the current annual notice and registry instructions, and the next call sets the new dates. [2]

How ApplyAZ helps

ApplyAZ is an Italy-based consultancy that works only with public universities. We can include this programme in a shortlist of 20 to 30 English-taught programmes that fit your profile, so your plan never rests on a single application.

For eligible students who start with us, a named person owns each stage, from A to Z:

  • We check your transcript against L'Aquila's entry rules for this programme.
  • We write your CV and a tailored statement of purpose.
  • We prepare and submit your academic pre-selection application and Universitaly pre-enrolment.
  • We help you declare your family income for reduced fees and file your ADSU L'Aquila scholarship application at the right time and in the right format.
  • We prepare your visa file.

With operations in all 20 Italian regions, we follow each region's scholarship rules and deadlines as they change. The university decides admission, the region decides the scholarship and the consulate decides the visa, so no one can promise an outcome. You pay in milestones, and every service you pay for is either delivered or its fee is refunded (terms apply).

Programmes at Italian public universities can be tuition-free for eligible students. Check if you are eligible and book a one-to-one consultation session with one of our Italy experts, or see how ApplyAZ works.

Questions and answers

What bachelor's degree do I need for Business Administration, Economics and Finance at L'Aquila?

A university degree, or a suitable recognised foreign qualification, in class L-18 Business Administration, or another class with adequate credits in the listed L-18 subject sectors. The university assesses the exact subject mapping from your record, not from a broad degree title. [1]

My degree is not in business administration. How many credits do I need?

The regulation gives an indicative guide of at least 90 CFU in the prescribed subject table, with at least 18 CFU in at least three of the four areas: business, economics, law and statistics or mathematics. The 18 business credits are compulsory, and the council assesses each file. [1]

I have a B.Com or BBA. Can I apply?

A B.Com or BBA is assessed against the same subject table. It fits best when your transcript shows at least 18 credits in business and enough in two of economics, law and statistics or mathematics, around 90 in total. We map your transcript against each area. [1]

Is there an entrance test or interview?

No written test is stated. The student registry checks your credits, and where your curriculum does not fully correspond, the teaching council (CAD) decides adequacy itself or appoints a commission that can interview you. [1]

Is the programme taught entirely in English?

No. The 2026/27 course listing identifies Italian and English teaching, so it is not an entirely English programme for every student. International enrolment requires B2 in the teaching language of your curriculum, and we confirm that language before you apply. [2][3]

What is the University of Twente double degree?

An English double-degree route for qualifying first-year students in the Management curriculum, with its own annual selection. Selected students need at least 30 CFU at L'Aquila, including B2 English eligibility, before definitive access. Admission to the main degree does not include it automatically. [4]

When is the deadline for non-EU students?

The reviewed sources do not confirm a 2026/27 deadline, because the international enrolment information mixes older dates with its 2026 entries. We follow the current annual notice and registry instructions, and the next call sets the new dates. [2]

What documents do I need for final enrolment?

Your bachelor's certificate, an official transcript in English or Italian and recognition evidence: CIMEA statements, a Declaration of Value or an accepted English Diploma Supplement. Visa applicants also complete Universitaly pre-enrolment before the type D study visa. [2]

Can someone handle my whole application to Business Administration, Economics and Finance at L'Aquila?

Yes. ApplyAZ, an Italy-based consultancy that works only with public universities, checks your transcript against L'Aquila's rules for this programme, handles the application and Universitaly pre-enrolment, helps you file the ADSU L'Aquila scholarship application at the right time and in the right format, and prepares your visa file, for eligible students. Start by checking your eligibility.

I'm applying from India. What is the route into Business Administration, Economics and Finance?

You need a recognised bachelor's in L-18 Business Administration, or another class with adequate credits in the listed subject sectors [1]. A B.Com or BBA is assessed against the subject table: outside L-18 the guide is at least 90 CFU, with 18 CFU in at least three of four areas and business compulsory [1]. You need B2 in the teaching language [2]. The steps are academic pre-selection and Universitaly pre-enrolment. Indian students apply for the type D study visa at the Italian embassy or consulate that covers their state, such as New Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru.

Is the route different from Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka?

No. The academic rules for Business Administration, Economics and Finance are the same whatever your nationality. Applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka follow the same steps as India: academic pre-selection and Universitaly pre-enrolment, then a type D study visa from the Italian mission for their country of residence. Read our guide for students in Dhaka.

I live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain. Where do I apply for the visa?

At the Italian embassy or consulate responsible for the country where you legally live, after Universitaly pre-enrolment. The academic rules for Business Administration, Economics and Finance are the same whatever your nationality, and Gulf residents follow the same steps: academic pre-selection and Universitaly pre-enrolment. Read our guides for Dubai, Riyadh and Doha.

I studied or live in London, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. What is the route?

The academic rules for Business Administration, Economics and Finance are the same whatever your nationality, and your degree is assessed like any other foreign qualification. Non-EU applicants who live abroad follow the same route: academic pre-selection and Universitaly pre-enrolment, then a type D study visa from the Italian mission for where they live. Read our guides for students in London, New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
